U.S. Marine Corps Band to play at Scottish games in Pleasanton.

This article is unfortunately incorrect as I write this comment. The National Defense Authorization Act of 2014 was, indeed, amended by Congressman Swalwell, and the amendment was passed. The Act itself, however, has not itself been approved. I am the Military Liaison for the Caledonian Club of SF which hosts the Scottish Games each year in Pleasanton and have yet to be informed by Headquarters, Marine Corps, that a Marine Band will be allowed to come. I do appreciate all that the Congressman and his staff have done to try and make this happen, but I am still waiting for the Marine Corps to give the OK.

Respectfully, Major Brooks Wilson, USMC (Ret)

Question for Pleasanton Weekly; Who was your "official" source for this story?

Here's the response we received from Allison Bormel from Congressman Swalwell's office, which has now been added to the story:

"The National Defense Authorization Act still has to pass the Senate and be signed into law by the President in order for Rep. Swalwell’s amendment to take effect. However, Rep. Swalwell did send a letter to Secretary Hagel at the Department of Defense (DOD) noting that the amendment passed the House of Representatives and in light of this, requested that DOD allow the bands to play at the Scottish Games this year. We are awaiting a response."

Thank you for letting us know.
