Global Warming? Who Cares When the Apocalypse Is Going to Come First?

Original post made by Marvin, Foothill Farms, on May 2, 2013

Well, the truth has finally been released. Why bother oneself with global warming? When God decides to put an end to things, He'll simply send his apocalyptic legions to slay the antiChrist (who likely is Barack Hussien Obama) as prelude to rapturous millennial bliss.

Research by David C. Barker of the University of Pittsburgh and David H. Bearce of the University of Colorado found the following: Belief in the biblical end-times is a motivating factor behind right-wing resistance to curbing climate change.

“[T]he fact that such an overwhelming percentage of Republican citizens profess a belief in the Second Coming (76 percent in 2006, according to our sample) suggests that governmental attempts to curb greenhouse emissions have encountered stiff resistance, and will continue to encounter stiff resistance, even if every Democrat in the country wants to curb them,” Barker and Bearce wrote in their study, which will be published in the June issue of Political Science Quarterly.

There's nothing terribly surprising or unusual about Second Coming believers thinking that the world will be ending any minute now, and on their watch. Doomsaying has been a staple of history. But, hey, what about all the Republican worry-warts who profess deep misgivings about the federal deficit affecting future generations? Well, that doesn't count, I guess. It's one thing to dump toxic poisons into the atmosphere; it's quite another to create deficit spending for meals on wheels, food stamp, and children's nuitrition programs.

And the logic? Well, see, WE don't have to take care of the earth because it's all going to end soon anyway. And, on the same 'reasoning', so we shouldn't be spending MY tax money on impoverished children either because, hey, it's going to end sooner than anyone believes anyway. So, let's spoil the landscape while living it up! And let the little children suffer, because theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven once the millenarian saints come down to slay the guy God/Christ/Whomever didn't have the competence to get along with in the first place.

by curbing climate change, are you referring to the coming ice age or something else? There's been no recorded warming globally for 10 years and we're approaching a pattern of climate similar to the 70's when the 'experts' claiming the next ice age was coming.
So which is it, and how will the dems figure out a way to tax us for our behavior or return us to the stone age?

Anyone who's been lucky enough to see a Beck rally knows that the apocalypse is already upon us. The sinister forces of Obama and his followers have aligned themselves with the intent of establishing Satan's rule over the world. Why is the government buying up all the ammunition and stockpiling it? If they can't take our guns away they're doing the next possible thing, taking away our bullets. C'mon people, haven't you noticed the resemblance between Obama's picture and Satan? Global warming is just a ruse to distract us from the real forces of evil that intend to enslave us. Nowhere is this permitted by the Constitution!!!!!

...some scary comments. However, the climate has been 'changing' since the earth was created. I am grateful the earth 'warmed' after each ice age, or we wouldn't be here.
