liberalism is a disease is a registered user.

Just keep it quiet, godless, lest you open your mouth and display your intolerance and ignorance. Here's praying you learn some self responsibility and reconsider next time you decide to bash people with beliefs.
Ironically, your faith in a godless world is a form of religion, albeit a misguided one. Good luck trying to justify your existence.

WOW! The Pleasanton Weekly is removing posts where atheists express their points of view? Really?

What happened to open forums? Just because I don't believe in a god does that mean I don't have a voice on this website?

You know the rules, Godless. No posts that remind us that racism still persists; no godlessness; no weighty reliance on academic arguments.

I don't remember exactly what "Godless" posted, but I have to agree that practicing outdated superstitious rituals like "Ash Wednesday" observances is something that I hope we move away from in our modern, enlightened societies.

I know such systems of belief can bring comfort to people, but all to often the beliefs bleed over into areas of people's lives where they don't belong. Witness the rise of militant Islam and all the malignancies that it has spawned. Look no further than our own countries where, until recently, Christians in the South justified beliefs in racial segregation and laws against miscegenation using references to the Bible. Even now religious groups are pushing for the teaching "intelligent design" or "creationism" in science classes rather than rigorous science.

I don't think you have to be an atheist or an agnostic to reject highly ritualized, organized religion. Furthermore,

And furthermore, there's absolutely no reason to believe that your children are safe in the presence of clergy of any faith, male or female! Sorry to be the one to fess up re: bad news...the latest about Pope Benedict's resignation has to do with his seeking immunity from the International Criminal Court for his role is allowing children to be raped internationally by Catholic clergy.

Prior to his resignation, he consulted with the Italian government, well aware that he's being pursued by US agencies for Crimes Against Humanity. What Benedict requested of the Italian government was immunity from prosecution for his major role in the rape of children word wide.

It is still not known if the ICC will accept the case...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ACCEPT THE CASE.
