Local Resident Denied Service from Local Lumber Yard

He basically refused to handle my situation, even though there would be zero cost to them, because he claimed I should of bought from them in the first place and this has nothing to do with the store. He didn't understand that there would be no cost and refused to beleive me. Way to support your local market base!! The only reason I bought elsewhere in the first place was because I was new to Pleasanton and thought they only dealt with contractors.
I realize this lumber yard like to work with contractors for the most part, but do they need to treat the local "do it yourself'er" like an idiot? I mean, I knew what I was talking about and I was being backed by a big company making the same claim...THERE WOULD BE NO COST.
