Compared with Dublin, Pleasanton residents are paying a much higher rate for fire+police. Are we going to raise taxes next year?

15% and 18% pay raises pale by comparison with 300% water rate increases on the table for the September 19 council meeting. Even though the messaging from the city claims it is a mere 72%, when the figures were presented in a private meeting with a water official, it was admitted that 300% is the correct number. And that doesn't even address the PFAS and well issues that are lurking just 'round the corner. There's talk of a first-ever for Pleasanton in 127 years of the city's existence, $6 million bond in the wings, with a minimal 5% interest rate.
One cannot help but wonder how fiscal matters got so far out of hand so quickly.
We sincerely hope today's closed session with police and negotiators will at least end one stalemate. Most of us think our officers are worth it.

I am hoping forward motion has been made on the contract. 90 days is too long to be without a contract. Hopefully awaiting a positive outcome.
