I am going to say it again! This is not the time to spend 10.6 million on a skate park and century house renovation. This is the time to re prioritize what our taxpayer money is spent on. Personally I prefer a fully staffed police force and clean water.

MsVic - I agree 100% - let your council members know how you feel directly -citycouncil@cityofpleasantonca.gov

I also agree the skate park and Century house can wait. Clean water and city staffing should take priority. Just because the administration doesn’t want to change commitments is not a good excuse to spend on nonessential projects. The city must provide the essential services first and put off amenities for when cash flow is improved.

I agree about questionable priorities. Nancy, thanks for easy link to City council, just sent my comments. I suggest others do the same and let them know our opinions on this directly.

@Nancy, I have repeatedly emailed the city council. Arkin has emailed me back 5 times trying to justify the spend of 10.6 million dollars. She indicated that the 10.6 million is a drop in the bucket….and won’t fix our infrastructure issues. And that the skatepark is needed (because we don’t already have 2 - this is me being sarcastic) so our kids are not bored, because we have no movie theaters, no skating rink, bowling alley or teen center. And having an amenity like a skate park will help prevent bullying in schools (and now I am rolling my eyes). The century house renovations were never addressed by Arkin in her emails.
Here is email address for city council

Some of the priorities of this city don’t make sense. I live near one of the skate parks and have never seen more than a handful of skateboarders using it. It’s often completely empty. Our water, which is beyond unhealthy for humans or plant life, roads and police departments are in dire need of city money. I’d rather feel safe and hydrated in my home than whether a skateboarder has a new park, let alone two. Wake up council!

Well they passed the existing budget last night with zero consideration to pausing or postponing the investments in expanding the skate park at Ken Mercer park or the Century House. Here's the rub, we have a huge skate park in Val Vista, hardly used, why spend more money to upgrade another one? The repairs to Century House still won't be all that is needed for it to be used to generate revenue so it's just money down the drain. Arkin and Testa both said public is misinformed, I was offended by their remarks. Their stance, we can do the amenities because the money is a drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost to fix our water wells. Perhaps it is a drop in the bucket but it could go toward the overall cost, it also could go toward our PPD and making sure their salaries are in like with other like cities. Watch the meeting, Arkin used the dias as a lecture platform, I personally was offended. We all should be offended. They didn't take any of our concerns to heart. Well I know who I won't be voting for next election and if I can start a recall process I will invest the time and energy and money into doing so.

I expect in 6 months or at the very least 12 months our council will be faced with having to do with a revision to the budget.

A fully staffed police department is a must and should be handled immediately!

The safety and health of the Pleasanton community is being placed at risk by a few who don't understand or care about their responsibilities to the people who chose them to lead and make sound decisions on their behalf. We have to be smarter when voting. The majority of Pleasanton decided that these people would have our best interests in mind but their actions are proving to be the opposite.

Those same Pleasanton voters also voted for Pamela Price for Alameda County District Attorney. Julie Testa and Jeff Nibert both supported Pamela price.
