Ex-Pleasanton police sergeant sentenced to 10 years in fatal DUI in Tuolumne County

A former sergeant with the Pleasanton Police Department received a 10-year prison sentence from a Tuolumne County judge earlier this month after being convicted in the drunk-driving crash that killed another driver near Sonora in 2022.

Good. May he spend the rest of his days behind bars, shunned, and scorned. And the officers who went to support him should be ashamed, if they are capable of such a thing.

Two things can be true at once. I think it is possible to be both outraged by the tragic death of Rebekah Gall and to have some sympathy for this former Pleasanton police officer whose life turned from doing good for many years to doing a very bad thing. And I very much doubt that his friends who "showed support" for officer Young believed that he should escape the consequences of his actions.
