No local commission or committee experience is a plus in my book. Have people watched recent Council and Planning Commission meetings? Out of touch is an understatement. We need some fresh voices.

No experience, a Swalwell buddy, collusion enthusiast, a progressive no less?

No thank you. The city council in Pleasanton needs another Kathy Narum or another Jack Balch.

The current three vote majority on the Pleasanton council is taking this city down the wrong path. We need real experience, good judgement, sound financial principles candidate.

All things considered; I wish to hear from Dean Wallace.
I can understand good judgement and will keep an open mind.

Just for the record, I voted for Hillary against Trump.
I take my news from AP.

If you run for Council without having volunteered for the City before, it tells me that it's all about your ego. No thanks.

Start by helping the city in lower-key ways where no one is watching and then we'll talk.

Not a Wallace fan after reading his pitch in this edition. Sounds like exactly what we Don’t need on the council. Someone with no city experience, works for state representative from Berkeley, Swalwell volunteer. Three strikes. No thanks.
The Council needs people on who want to continue to keep Pleasanton as a great place to live and work. A working City. Pleasanton is pleasant now. We’d like to keep it that.

Friend of Swalwell and Wicks? No thanks, he won’t get my vote.

I wish to hear from Jeffrey Nibert.
Jeffrey Nibert is also candidate for district one in Pleasanton.

I have received excellent, positive, and forward-looking response from Dean Wallace.

"I have received excellent, positive, and forward-looking response from Dean Wallace."

What was "excellent" and "positive" - and how does that change anything? Regardless of the content of the response, you can already predict what you are going to get from him based on his background (associations with Wicks and Swalwell) if he gets elected.

Expect support for every left-wing ("forward looking") position you can think of: increased spending, higher taxes, more regulations on businesses, "reimagining" (defunding) the police, a predictable accusation of "systemic racism" in the community and the subsequent need for "equity", more gun control, more environmental regulations, etc.

@MichaelB better than supporting Pamela Price.

Michael B. Keeknlinda touched on it.

I have been informed from multiple sources that Jeffrey Nibert donated money to Pamela Price. Julie Testa has endorsed Pamela Price, and Julie Testa has endorsed Jeffrey Nibert. I asked Jeffrey Nibert to reach out, he has not responded.

After some feedback from Dean Wallace, I believe Dean Wallace is the best candidate for district one. From Dean Wallace, "I am, indeed, a democrat. I get the sense that this means there are bound to be some things where we may not see eye-to-eye when it comes to state or national politics. I do want to make that clear upfront because I won't shy away from the fact that I'm a democrat, nor will I attempt to lie or water down that fact to curry anyone's favor."

I'd wouldn't be quick to judge Dean Wallace. Having spoken with him at length I can tell you he appears to have sound judgement and an energy level far in excess of current leadership. He has been endorsed by councilmembers and other elected representatives from both sides of the aisle. This is about Pleasanton, not blue versus red. I encourage certain of the folks posting above to check out who has endorsed him. I believe the people mentioned like Jack Balch and Kathy Narum support him in this election.

"I have been informed from multiple (unnamed) sources that Jeffrey Nibert donated money to Pamela Price." Campaign donations are public information. I looked at Pamela Price's 2022 460's and I did not see a donation from Jeff Nibert though maybe I missed it. Jeff Nibert is not listed as an endorsement on Pamela's Prices website (though she does proudly list numerous "activists", "survivors of police violence" and Julie Testa).

Julie Testa endorsed both Pamela Price and Jeff Nibert therefore Jeff Nibert = Pamela Price? Seriously? Jeff Nibert was likely endorsed by Julie Testa for the same reasons that Valerie Arkin and Karla Brown endorsed him.

People spread falsehoods all the time about candidates through either ignorance or a desire to harm a candidate they oppose. BTW If you don't live in District 1 you can't vote for Jeff Nibert, Dean Wallace or anyone else for that District.

Jeff Nibert donated to Pamela Price in 2021. Web Link The 2021 460 for Pamela Price lists the donation as well.

At the AC Democratic Central Committee meeting, in order to get the proposed endorsement of Dean Wallace off consent, Jeff Nibert had to turn to Pamela Price in order to get the required 5 votes. BTW, Wallace earned the endorsement by almost 3 to 1 over Nibert.

In return, Nibert supported endorsing Pamela Price for DA. (Neither candidate for DA received the required 60% votes needed for the endorsement.)

While Nibert may not be listed on Price's endorsement page, he certainly turned to her for help in seeking the party endorsement.

Thank you for the detail on which 460 had the donation. I definitely missed it (a lot to go through). Good information.

You're welcome. I believe in facts and debate the issues. its too bad in this race Nibert has had to resort to things that aren't the issues in this race such as who Wallace's boss is as one example.

(Removed because it violates our terms of use and contained inaccurate information.)

For the record, I have donated to both Terry Wiley and Pamela Price.
Those of us who care deeply about democracy and about electing qualified leaders to tackle the challenging problems we face should talk with our fellow voters. We each should research the candidates’ experience and positions. We should access Voters Edge, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, and each make up our own mind.

Whoever it is, Factchecker simply responded to Bay Area Native regarding Pamela Price donations. There is no misinterpretation of facts. Bay Area Native couldn't locate the donation, Factchecker did, and said so. Nibert donated and Factchecker showed us the link to the record.
As far as a "hidden Twitter account" goes, seriously? I just typed in the name of Jeff Nibert's opponent and it came right up, photo and all!
Factchecker did exactly what candidate Nibert advises: researched the candidates' positions. The accusation of "misinterpretation" lacking evidence, publically attempting to "out" a registered user of the Pleasanton Weekly's Town Square forum (no matter who it is), and suggesting something untoward about a Twitter account for his opponent aren't examples of the kind of integrity I expect of elected officials.

Mr. Jeff Nibert, is it true that Pamela Price has been your biggest supporter on the Democratic Party Central Committee? And is it true that you also believe that being endorsed by the Pleasanton Police Association should be disqualifying?

Who are you voting for DA? It is my understanding that you voted for Pamela Price to be endorsed by the party just last month, and that she voted for you. Is what is written below correct? How out of touch.

"ALAMEDA COUNTY DEMOCRATS

—This week. district attorney candidate Pamela Price lashed out yet again at the Alameda County Democratic Central Committee for what she believes is their intransigence toward of a resolution approved by the group in 2020 aimed at ridding the party of police union money and endorsements

—Price’s comments and other central committee member’s statements were including in a private email thread used by local Alameda County Democratic officials, and obtained by the East Bay Insiders

—Price correctly identified the recent action of Dean Wallace, a candidate for the Pleasanton City Council who was endorsed last month by the Alameda County Democratic Party. Wallace subsequently accepted the Pleasanton Police Officer’s Association’s endorsement, which the resolution forbids

—The timing here is important since the party’s resolution specifically lays out that local Democrats who accept contributions or endorsements from law enforcement groups will not even be considered for the local party’s endorsement.

—Jeff Nibert, a member of the central committee and Wallace’s opponent in the Pleasanton City Council race, added, “I also agree that it was strongly implied an endorsement would be denied if a candidate accepted police money or police endorsement. We all know, whether implied or explicit, this means, ‘Don't do it!’ What is particularly troubling is when one candidate in a contest makes a determination to refuse to interview for police endorsement, while the other seeks and accepts police endorsement."
