A defiant pep talk, a gas rebate: What Gov. Newsom offered in State of the State

Original post made on Mar 10, 2022

In his State of the State address, Gov. Gavin Newsom pledged some relief from high gas prices, but mostly promoted the "California Way" of finding new solutions to big problems.

Why not repeal or reduce the state's high gas tax and eliminate the requirement for a "special" California blend of gasoline? Both of these have added $1 or more to the price a gallon of gasoline, compared to most states. It sounds like Newsom's plan will be another wealth-redistribution scheme giving money to people but not based on how much they actually paid in taxes. If it is based on "California residents who had registered their cars with the state", does that mean they are giving equal shares to electric car owners? What about people who own collector cars that are rarely driven?

Why not? Newsom and the "progressives" don't want people buying/using gasoline in the first place because it is a fossil fuel. They don't care how much it costs - unless price increases negatively affects their chances of getting elected or reelected.

Gavin always has always lived his privileged life, and now coupled with his unearned power by boasting that California always leads the way. This could not be more further from the truth under his failed leadership. He really needs to be seated and shown in crayon and simple pictures how California is last in the ‘good’ things and first in the ‘bad’ things. He’s moving from the point where his elites have made a fortune through the fear of the China Virus to pushing our situation to make a fortune in the ‘renewable’ energy program, all at the expense of the middle class. But I will end with two questions: where is Fauci hiding and why? And secondly, where is that billion dollars for masks to a defunct automaker in China? Are they going to give it back?
