Boy, 13, seriously injured after bike crash in north Pleasanton

A teenage cyclist is in critical but stable condition after being struck by a vehicle in northern Pleasanton on Tuesday night.

It was a sad accident which I happened to be around few minutes after the fact.

I must point out that I have already contacted the city to help prevent exactly this type of incident. The problem is that cyclists mostly use the side-walk on the wrong flow of traffic northbound of Santa Rita Rd. That is not only dangerous for pedestrians but also for cyclists themselves because drivers won't have a good vision and expectation of their path.

I guess I don't understand. If he was on the sidewalk why was he hit by the car? My heart hurts for him and his family.
