We have come a long way in eradicating the remnants of slavery in our actions and in our thoughts, however, the journey is not complete. I would strongly urge our leaders to declare June 19 as a mandatory National Holiday and also provide Slavery reparations to descendants of slaves. We need to make an earnest effort for a more fair, more equitable society.

I would much rather see a national holiday declared in honor of Frederick Douglass or Booker T. Washington than "Juneteenth". As for reparations...no problem as long as the British, the Dutch, and the East African Muslims all pitch in.
