I have no doubt that the Pleasanton Police Dept intends for this protest to be safe, but given recent events, I think it would be helpful if the Police Department published its rules of engagement for when force is justified. Come at me Town Square. I know you can't resist.

Is there a permit issued for this protest? Why is the protest allowed to be by residences, businesses and schools ? Why is this large group allowed NOW IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC WITH ALAMEDA COUNTY NUMBERS GROWING. MOVE THE PROTEST DATE TILL AFTER ALL COVID RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED....or Move it to a different location!

The Supreme Court just started that Churches and Organizations must follow guidelines and stay smaller than 10 people. Cancel the protest till after this pandemic is over. We need to protect ALL people’s health and safety at this time. Protest another time or in another location like San Francisco where they have lower numbers and lifted restrictions.

Direct protestors to turn around and take Bart to San Francisco where they don’t have growing COVID numbers and SF has lifted restrictions...COVID numbers are growing here ....and Bart could use the money right now.

The Alameda County Fair is cancelled for Health Reasons , putting many disabled, minority groups and economically disadvantaged out of a job, but City allows this health hazard mass gathering to take place....what a joke. They need to reschedule. Who issued the permit?

Reschedule till August or when COVID numbers aren’t growing! Show your support for people, causes and love in a safe way for all on line! Many immunocompromised and elderly live by that park. xoxo

Pleasanton never fails to show the NIMBY attitude about everything. Very sad!

@Charlie. There you go. It’s your neighborhood, too. Yes, let’s have the protest here. Oh wait, it’s actually in our neighborhood. I fully support the protest.

I still stand by my NIMBY comment as Pleasanton is known for not wanting anything that upsets the so called status quo.

@William Dengler,

Please do leave town, and make is permanent! I'm sure there is a nice bunker somewhere where you can avoid people and vice versa.

I'm relieved that we are having a Protest/Demonstration. And I'm glad to see our town officials have issued a statement against the actions that took George's life and for evaluation and change. Pleasanton is still a delightful bubble of a community and at times needs to stand up Well, this is the time. Those worried about COVID should put their masks on and seal themselves in their homes. Those wishing to express themselves peacefully and show support should not be hindered or harassed. The time is now. There is no waiting. No delaying. This country has waited far too long. Action must begin immediately and if that means a March, then let it begin.

Sorry, what “action” do you want today? And by whom? Seems this protest should be in front of Swalwells office in Castro Valley if you really want any action taken...go to those with the power....

Never Fails

Thank you.

I happen to agree with your Nimby comment.

After living here for 50 years, I have finally gotten sick and tired of all the rich, entitled people who I believe have ruined this town.

I will be able to retire next year, sell my house to one of these jerks, and live happily ever after in a nice place with nice people.

What a time we live in, being race blind is racist, people are encouraging others to draw up list of minority owned businesses on next door, you can’t say everyone matters equally.

Sorry Dr King, you are obsolete.

Mr. Floyd’s killing raises a serious issue that needs to be addressed with some real actions - lots of talk right. Don’t see many serious actions yet (defund the police, I don’t think so).

Eventually everyone in this country, all races, are going to take a step back are start addressing the elephants in the room. We are a country that always puts race first. Any problem, any disagreement is always blamed on race.

Until everyone truly becomes color blind, we’ll continue to be a racist country.

The unfortunate truth for people of color to come to grips with is racism in not just limited to white people being racist. All human beings have biases and prejudices that lead them down the path of being a racist.

Yes, this country started with the ugliness of slavery. You can’t keep pointing to that as the cause of all the problems today and in the future. It’s human nature that is the real cause of it all.

The protests about George Floyd's tragic death have very quickly turned from protests to anarchist riots. The riots are all about the left-wing loons trying to do whatever they can to make sure President Trump does not get reelected. In that regard, the lefty loons have gone from one heinous strategy to another, all orchestrated by The Deep State. This is another of their "never let a serious crisis go to waste" actions, as preached by their high priest Saul Alinsky (and vigorously promoted by Rahm Emanuel and Barack Obama). They won't stop until they have reached their goal - reinventing America in the image of the Soviet Union, where the socialist/communist elite govern over a nation of peons. So, people need to wake up and smell the roses.
