Original post made on Jan 11, 2018

Keep issuing more H1B so we can bring more Indians to Ptown to continue our growth into 2019 and beyond! Gotta love the fact that we live in the greatest country in the world so everyone wants to come here.

Diversity is good.

I think the incoming population to Pleasanton is not very diverse.

@Pleasanton Parent,

What's not "diverse" about, other than it being skewed to higher income and education levels? Who else could afford to move to Pleasanton, have you seen the housing costs around here?

@Horace Townsend,

I agree. We live in the land of opportunity, and these skilled visa programs have been vital to keeping it that way. I've worked with, interviewed, and hired many h-1bs for many years.

BobB,
Your response answered the question you're posing. The incoming population is predominately Indian. We do not have diversity in who is coming to Pleasanton, its very predominately one ethnicity - thats not diversity.

@Pleasanton Parent,

Apart from building low income, or subsidized housing, I don't think there is any way you can get a mix of lower income people moving to Pleasanton, and I don't think there is a lot of public support for that.

Pleasanton housing costs are cheap when you compare them to the Peninsula, South Bay, SF, North Bay, etc.
The influx of new residents seem to be Asian and Indian, but that has been the case for years now. Not a bad thing or a good thing just what it is.
Diversity is good!

@Pleasanton Parent,

Maybe there is support for low income or subsidized housing. Who knows?

BobB, you seem to be open minded, the others are not (the person using the name Horace), many are complaining that pleasanton is not what it used to be anymore. They are seeing the diversity (and maybe not liking it) and crime. Growth and Prosperity which pleasanton has been blessed with unfortunatley attracts crime, but important fact they are missing is assumption that the people coming in to live in the city are committing the crimes.

@Faithful,

As you say,

" important fact they are missing is assumption that the people coming in to live in the city are committing the crimes"

Yes, exactly. I agree.

Faith if you're oblivious to the fact tgat BobB' s statement is meant to imply that only the Indian population is capable of affording Pleasanton home values and all other ethnicities require low income housing to, youre either in BobBs ignorant camp or aren't reading between the lines in his statements.

BobBs mindset (same thought process) is why Fairlands has changed their office personnel to deal with ignorant people that look at staff as servers, not professionals

@Pleasanton Parent,

I implied nothing of the sort. It is a free country. People can live anywhere they want, as long as they can afford to.

I don't know where you're getting your information or even what you are worried about, but if the current wave of people moving in to Pleasanton has a higher percentage of people of Indian ethnicity, then that is hardly a threat to diversity in Pleasanton. It isn't as if there is some kind of discrimination going on, apart from the high cost of living.

You're free to move to, if you're looking for more diversity, there are plenty of choices out there. Frankly, I have no idea what you're worried about.
