REACH, a Tri-Valley nonprofit that provides housing and other services for developmentally disabled adults, has dedicated one of its homes to Norm Guest for his many years of service to the organization.
Guest, a retired Castro Valley High School teacher, is stepping down from serving on the REACH board for the last 22 years.
REACH, which stands for Resources Education Activities Community and Housing, offers resources, education, activities, community participation and housing opportunities that enable adults with developmental challenges to live full and independent lives.
Members of the Guest family were present from Connecticut, Oregon, and Texas as he was honored.
The REACH board also honored Lloyd Hanson, who retired from the board a few years ago. Guest and Hanson were founding members of the organization.
“It’s almost exactly 25 years ago that our founders first met with the purpose of creating our organization,” said Kay King, the board’s current co-chair.
REACH currently supports 26 special needs adults in its six Pleasanton and three Livermore homes.
REACH also sponsors other services for the developmentally disabled adults, including athletic teams, nutrition programs, dances, and educational opportunities.
The organization is holding its annual golf fundraiser on Monday, July 27, at Castlewood Country Club.
