I'm sad to see our supervisors vote to issue citations for skateboarders.
Really? This is a sport like any other sport. Would you cite them for playing baseball? Basketball? etc. Do we have any supervisors that skated in their youth? I'm guessing not...This is America, or have you forgotten?
God Bless America and our skateboarders.

I was almost knocked down by a skateboarder in front of Raley's one day last year. When I asked him if he could read the sign that said no skateboarding, he flipped me off. When they are damaging property and infringing on other people's rights to walk on the sidewalk, I have no sympathy for them. JMHO of course.

Not all who skateboard are of the flipping-off, property-damaging, infringing-on-other-people's rights kind. Some skateboard for fun, physical activity, and/or to get from point A to point B. While a agree that anyone who damages public property should be cited, to enact a law "banning skateboarding" sounds like a lazy solution.

I think they were saying the law would only pertain to county property like the courthouse steps etc. "...The ordinance doesn't apply to county roads, streets, highways, sidewalks, lanes or alleys..." And yes, if it is damaging property, it is because they are using the steps to perform stunts - there are skateboard parks around specifically for that purpose. Go use one of those.

Larry, I'm pretty sure you can't play baseball on county building steps or retaining walls.
