The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is seeking public review and comments on its Draft 2015 Public Participation Plan.

The plan highlights opportunities for Bay Area residents to engage in the range of MTC’s planning work and funding allocations.

Also included in the online document are planning and decision milestones for the pending update to the region’s long-range transportation and land use blueprint, known as Plan Bay Area, scheduled to be adopted jointly by MTC and the Association of Bay Area Governments in 2017.

MTC’s solicitation for public review is part of the agency’s effort to get more people involved in transportation policies and investment choices, said John Goodwin, MTC spokesman. He said the agency is encouraging Bay Area residents to participate in planning for the region’s future.

The Public Participation Plan was adopted in 2010 to satisfy state and federal requirements for a transparent and inclusive public process, he added.

A final 2015 Public Participation Plan is slated for adoption next February. Comments can be emailed to info@mtc.ca.gov/ or mailed to Public Information, MTC, 101 Eighth Street, Oakland, CA 94607.

Comments must be received by 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12.

The draft document can be viewed online at http://mtc.ca.gov/get_involved/participation_plan.htm/

  1. MTC need’s to first control the continuous inefficient Bay Bridge Project that’s continuous billions over budget from defaults in project management and engineering. MTC can’t handle this one project, question be how they ever going project 2015-2017 projects? Steve Heminger MTC CEO, time he’s removed from office and FTA Deputy director institute a new person.

  2. MTC’s middle name is TRANSPORTATION. The region’s five major counties that ring San Francisco Bay need integrated rapid transit around the Bay, and reaching out to their neighbors. Our six million people deserve better than the fractured network of MTC’s “Regional Rail Plan” that is really no plan at all.

MTC could fulfill its destiny by letting the people vote on such integrated 5-County rapid transit, as the voters did in 1962 with their vote creating BART.

  3. The web link is nothing more than propaganda for One Bay Area. This is the government organization, which includes MTC, that wants to control your property. It is interesting to note that Hacienda Business Park is included in the Priority Development Area. These areas are only 4% of the Bay Area land but will be where 80% of future residential and 66% of future commercial development will take place. It is also interesting to note that the Pleasanton southern ridge and chain of lakes area will be Priority Conversation Areas where nothing can be developed (developer influence, rich people influence and Sierra Club influence). If the MTC really wanted to listen to people we would have a north bound carpool lane for i680 going over the Sunol grade 10 years ago.
