Pulls papers sounds like he is not running… Submits papers… Will be interested in how the politicians solutions for Pleasantons water use in drought….. Recycled water, Permits for more building? No penalty for big users? Storage? Just how will they solve our city drought problems,,,, so far not so good…. hope we hear something before November from all of the candidates.

Love Lori's question as that is a much much bigger concern than the city races. The city works as a team, unlike the schools and its teachers, students, and parents. Proof is in all the infighting about Vranesh and various other issues.

Lori nailed it. Whether or not you have children in Pleasanton schools, as the PUSD nonsense continues it will impact property values for all. Neighboring cities will become more desirable than Pleasanton. Dublin schools are thriving and in Pleasanton we're stuck with a board and superintendent that have proven to be incompetent. I don't know for sure, but Arkin might actually be worth keeping and the rest need to go.

Current PUSD school board terms expire:

Hintzke term expires Dec. 2016
Laursen term expires Dec. 2014
Grant term expires Dec. 2016
Bowser term expires Dec. 2014
Arkin term expires Dec. 2016

They all need to go including Arkin. Not one on there is capable. Thorne can go to. I would like to see something on the ballot saying voters need to approve any expenditure over $200,000. This spending is out of control

"This spending is out of control"

Dublin is spending more than ever, and their schools are doing great! Spending more isn't always bad if there are results and accountability.

Jerry Thorne has been a great Pleasanton Mayor for the past two years, and he deserves our votes this time too. Thanks Jerry, for your support of our town's veterans, thanks for supporting our parks and downtown, and thanks for voting against OneBayPlan.

You've got my vote!

He lost fives votes from my house as did the entire school board. Can't drive across town without checking to see what time it is because if traffic, high density building, $550,000 for a dog park, $500,000 settlement to two teachers. Just wasting our money.

Who cares if the council works as a team, they are on the wrong side! Stop the growth and definitely stop my old neighbor the pro growth Arne Olson. That guy shouldn't be elected to anything if we want to keep this town as nice as it is. He loves high density apartments and approved every one that came his way on the planning committee.

Now he is backed by the same people that vote for houses each time, the chamber. Run fast before your house values drop!

He will not be getting my vote. This town needs some serious house cleaning.
All this new building which will have new residents using water we don't have. Oh wait, we will have it, cause the rest of us are conserving.

FOLKS, THE CHAMBER RUNS POLITICS IN PLEASANTON. Thorne and Mom Narum; and Pentin, to a lesser extent, are given their Marching Orders by the pro development Chamber of Commerce. If you are really intrerested in what motivates these folks follow the money donations and investigate the donors. We need individuals to start running again and causing the havoc that Ayala, Ben Tarver, Pico and Becky Dennis stirred up. Right now the Chamber runs the show. And I believe most Chamber Members don't even live within Pleasanton City Limits. I believe the City Manager is less aggressive these days because he must have skeletons in his closet too. A new whole face and approach is needed in Pleasanton. As for the school district, the most consistant thing they have done in the more than 30 years I have lived here has been to pat themselves on the back as being a great school district. They are not as good as they think they are. Juanita has rolled over in her grave many times I am sure. San Ramon schools have been outscoring them on tests them for years on a smaller budget. $300,00-$500,000 dog parks will not improve traffic conditions, nothing will at this point because we have too many people. The funniest thing about all these posts is that most probably voted these people into office OR did not take the time to even vote. We, the people are to blame for the mess. I hope this activist and his group get some traction. Being as acidic as Kay Ayala can be at times she should help garner some headlines.

Lugnut, since you're so critical of the current council why don't you stop out and run. Anyone can criticize behind a screen name--it takes guts to put yourself out in front on the public.

These are basically volunteer jobs that manage $100,000,000 budgets, require months of campaigning and then get insulted on the blogs and emails. How can you afford to live in Pleasanton on a volunteer job? No wonder no one wants to run for office.

Thats exactly my point. People should be respectful of those that serve on the council or school board. If your concern is legitimate why hide behind a screen name. We need good people to serve on both. Anonomous inuendos benefit have no benefit to making this a better place to live

Reading the headline, I too thought he changed his mind about running, and "pulled" his papers out of consideration.

This guy sucks! All he is interested in is developing Pleasantons tax base and ruining the small town feel...time for a change!
