This doesn't even go back to when there were several incidences of car vandalism, and theft from cars in the south end of Pleasanton starting February 27. My car was broken into (glass smashed, small bag taken) and others too. Terrible. The one thing I can say is that the Pleasanton police came right away when I called and were incredibly respectful. The thieves escaped, but at least the security and police were able to look for them right away. What's going on with our Pleasanton?

So sorry to hear this. It's not like the old days. I guess we need to be a bit more diligent and keep our eyes open. Be aware. Most of the news is like Ripley's Believe It or Not. But we better believe it.

I recall parking in SF along a "quiet" side street. Came back to car to find window smashed and leather jacket stolen. In fact most of the cars on that street all had windows smashed.

I was pretty foolish for leaving the jacket in plain view + leaving car parked on "quiet" street.

Crime is up in many areas and it is getting more attention here, because the rate is up. I constantly here about shoplifting and auto theft @ the pleasanton mall + the crooks are starting to drift towards residential areas as well.

One of the things thieves like to do is "case" a home and see if anyone is inside by pretending to sell something. Dogs are great deterrents but do not disturb and no-sales signs are not.
