7:50 AM Thursday - Foothill Road Closed

Original post made by FHS Mom, Foothill High School, on Sep 19, 2013

If like me you have kids needing to get to FHS this morning, I just got an automated call that Foothill Road is closed. My son had a test early this morning which is the only way we somehow avoided this closure.

Okay, yeah, I did call him right when I received the call to make sure he is okay. I pray it's nothing serious and not a student involved incident.

On my way out to work this morning, I saw an unusually heavy stream of traffic headed south on Muirwood Drive. When I reached the top of the hill, the corner of North Muirwood and Foothill, I saw the police officer routing traffic off of Foothill onto Muirwood. Haven't found any news posted, and this was before the power outage around town was reported.

There was an accident- no students involved, but three teachers were hit while driving to school. No word yet on their condition, but I havent heard that any were seriously injured. Again, not the most updated news on their condition.

Possibly off topic, but what was the deal with the parachute coming down in roughly the same area this morning?

This is a reminder that the speed limit on all of Muirwood Drive is 25 mph. When people encountered the roadblock on Foothill Road this morning, some decided to speed through our neighborhood and make up some travel time. It was difficult to pull out from the side roads onto Muirwood this morning with the volume of cars and the speed they were traveling.
I ask that when you see an accident has occurred, think about your own "rush to get somewhere" and slow it down! You could be the next accident. I ask that the police meter the traffic down Muirwood instead of just turning them all down the street continuously and perhaps set another police officer on the road to "calm" the traffic to the proper speed limit.
I heard the impact of this accident from inside our home and glad everyone is reported to be ok.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
