Here is the opinion of someone raied by similar methods used by Chua:

I personally do not agree with Chua and to be honest, I think she is just making a ton of money for no good reason - her book rose to number 7 on amazon after the controversial article was released. It reminds me of how Palin made a ton of money through people listening to her nonsense.
Chua claims to have raised perfect kids: we have to wait and see. Creativity is important and cannot possibly be fostered by Chua's methods. Sure, the kids learned the violin and even played at Carnegie Hall but at what price? No sleepovers, no playdates, a very strict upbringing and who knows the kind of self-esteem or "motivation to do something if mom is not nagging" Chua's kids really have.

Chua was interviewed on the NPR program "Forum" with Michael Krasny:

As usual, he asked the right questions and pushed hard for authentic answers. Check it out for yourself, then decide.

An excerpt from the Janet Maslin review of the book in the New York Times: "In truth, Ms. Chua’s memoir is about one little narcissist’s book-length search for happiness."

As far as I am concerned, her child rearing skills are abusive and cruel, not motivating and startegic as Chua insists. Chua should be forced to watch "The Race to Nowhere".
