She means Dublin Federal Prison on the Camp Park Grounds.

FCI Dublin (a federal women's prison) used to be FCI Pleasanton, which was a minimum-security "country club" federal prison for men. It's actually in Dublin, adjacent to Santa Rita County Jail.

It's the same facility Patty Hearst did her time at...it is like a country club, in a relative way, to other prisons. I used to be part of a church basketball team which would go out to the prison to play the men's team there on Saturday's. It was a pretty nice place for a prision. BUT, IT IS STILL A PRISON.

Maybe instead of basketball they should take up pole vaulting.

What a stupid comment to include in the Weekly... Can't you find some real news?

Barbara Walters should spend some time in the Santa Rita jail for all of the dumb comments she makes.

Prison and country club do not go hand and hand. People who refer to federal prison or any prison are ignorant.

I mean who ever refers to them as country clubs are ignorant.

Kelly, Actually they do, in some cases (including this one) go hand in hand. It is well documented and understood that when politicians, celebrities and other hotshots get sentenced that they rarely if ever go to a 'real' prison. The comparison to a country club is aperpo if you were to really consider the environment, treatment and perks. Heck, John Wayne Gacy, though in a real prison, had country club privileges!
For those of you who don't like these topics...give it a try to hit the back button and try another subject. It's YOUR choice what you read and respond to.

I was with Michael in '91 - '92 at the men's prison camp in Camp Parks which was across the street from Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Pleasanton (renamed to FCI Dublin in 1991) and Federal Detention Center (FDC) Dublin. Alameda Co. Santa Rita Jail is about a mile East from the federal facilities. I played bridge with Mike a few times. The men's prison camp was no country club. Admittedly, there were no fences and security was minimal but in a way it made doing time more difficult.

WOW. Out of all people, Barbara Walters?? She is crazy, and quite rude. But it is interesting she included that in her book. Funny seeing Pleasanton in there.

I did a year at fci pleasanton back in the '80's and that was the 1st and last time for me in prison, thank God. But I also thank God that the time I was sentenced to was at that institution. Compared to state prison, fed time was comparable to a country club. No guns, no gangs (at that time at least), no bars. Say what you will but sometimes just the fact that you are locked up with no control of your life is enough to change a persons behavior. I know I am an anomaly perhaps, but I'm grateful that my sentence was to be served there other than elsewhere (driving past the Santa Rita jail scared the crap out of me and I was relieved when the feds pulled into the fci.)
