It looks like a guy floating on a ceiling and some people sitting around a table. Am I missing something here?

I agree with lorax. I've seen the poster at the theatre and the trailer. If a movie about ghosts haunting a boy is child abuse, then there are many movies that show child abuse and that is why you as a parent pick and choose the movies that the children see. If you are offended by the movie posters then keep your children at home and rent DVDs.

No, I think one of the movie posters that Andrea is referring to is this one:
Web Link
I'm not a prude at all; my kids are in their late teens and twenties, but there IS a legitimate objection to linking children and horror and twisting of sexuality when one is going to attend a G or a PG film and it's "in your face". Parents of younger children shouldn't be afraid to walk into the movie theatre to attend a G or PG film and feel that their kids might have nightmares.

I just watching the trailer and viewed both posters for the movie- I don't see any relation to child abuse. It's stated that it's based on true events, just like every other psychological thriller movie. Previews have to be made that are suitable for all audiences and the ones that come from scary movies will not be shown in G movies that younger children see. The poster simply shows some weird blob looking thing coming out of the child's mouth. If a child seems scared by it or asks questions, tell them it's a movie for older people and the little boy is doing magic- think Harry Potter. If parents complain enough I'm sure the movie theatre would gladly switch the poster over to the other one I've seen (boy floating on the cieling) but if they don't want to move on with life. It's their buisness.

I think you need some serious mental help. Stay home and web for porn.

That this subject would make you think of porn is sad.

...it looks like some "blob" gross thing coming out of a child's mouth...like he's barfing in outer space and it's floating up in the air.. connection to porn? hmm...I'm trying to be open minded but I don't see any connection to porn (OK - I confess. I've seen porn). Maybe I'm missing something here - but I really don't understand.

I think it's not a very good poster. Okay, there's a kid with some wierd stuff coming out of his mouth. Doesn't exactly grab my attention or interest me in the movie. But I see no connection to child abuse here.
Move along people, move along...

I think this movie is sick, creepy and dumb. I can see her point about little children walking by and "oh mommy whats that thing coming out of his mouth??" it is discusting. And i'm not sure if it is a "true" story. All this ghost, demon stuff..... i'm not sure.

That is really sad that Andrea sees sexual abuse in that poster. I don't know her life story so maybe I'm missing something. Reminds me more of when I took my nephew on a ride at the fair. I don't think that was sexual abuse do you? Anyway sometimes life offers a Rorschach test and what we see says more about us than the ink blot. Lets watch our children and caretakers not horror movie posters for signs of abuse.
