Every route to downtown blocked during 10k race Sunday

Original post made by pam miller, Downtown, on Jun 17, 2007

I enjoy living downtown most of the time. I don't even mind the extra traffic during fairtime. But why do we have to block off every possible route leading downtown for a 10k race. I sat at the corner of Hopyard and Golden for 25 minutes while runners jammed all routes in to town Sunday morning. I heard people in cars yelling "I'm gonna be late for work". I saw a traffic officer splitting runners into two paths both of which would prevent me from going to my home on rose ave. Why couldn't they all run the same way?
