Small business owner
I much prefer to be my own boss because when I had a boss, I would see all sorts of inefficiencies in various systems -- and much to my dismay, they would never be corrected. That really irritated me.

I would prefer to be my own boss because although it comes with more stress and responsibility, the rewards of making my own rules and schedule, and likely a higher income, could be well worth it.
Well, I've been the boss, and I've had a boss. Having had both experiences, I can honestly say that so long as I have a decent boss, I prefer having a boss. I tend to worry a lot about work matters, so when the buck stopped with me, I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders. It is a relief to not have to feel that way anymore, and to just be responsible for doing my job as best as I can.
I love being my own boss because it allows me to exercise my own unique creativity without being influenced or edited by a supervisor. I function best and do my best work without any of that kind of interference.
It's hard to say because I have a really great boss who listens to my ideas, values my opinions and allows me a great deal of latitude in my work. If I had a different kind of boss, who was constantly micromanaging my every move and insisting I do things his particular way, I would definitely prefer to be the boss than have a boss.
