Cantabella Children’s Chorus is giving a free performance on Friday evening before flying off to South Korea to take part in the 2019 World Youth Choir Festival.
“Please come to the ‘Send-Off Concert’ and cheer our singers on,” artistic director Eileen Chang said.
The concert features many of songs the chorus will perform during the tour, which runs from Sunday to July 24.
After being invited to perform at the festival, Cantabella commissioned a piece to celebrate the trip. “E-Yeo-do” is based on a native plantation song of Jeju Island, South Korea, where the festival is held. Composer Nack Kum Paik lives in Los Angeles.
The “Send-Off Concert” takes place at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Trinity Lutheran Church on Hopyard Road in Pleasanton. The performance is free, sponsored by the church. No tickets are required although donations are appreciated.
The chorus is currently registering for fall classes. For more information, go to www.cantabella.org.
