Nominations are being sought for the 2016 Juanita Haugen Community of Character Award, a program that recognizes individuals who contribute their time to the community and nonprofits that consistently model high ethical and moral standards.

Candidates for this award should exhibit traits chosen by the collaborative of Compassion, Honesty, Respect, Integrity, Self-Discipline and Responsibility.

This award is named in honor of the late Juanita Haugen, a longtime member of the Pleasanton school board and a co-founder of the Community of Character program. A well-known community volunteer, she believed that much of Pleasanton’s success is due to its compassionate citizens, folks who exhibit good character traits and those people who volunteer throughout the community.

Anyone wishing to nominate an individual or a non-profit group can find nomination forms at the organization’s website at www.communityofcharacter.org/ Completed forms may be mailed to the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, 777 Peters Ave., Pleasanton, CA 94566 or submitted to www.PleasantonCommunityofCharacter@gmail.com/

The deadline for submission is April 4, 2016.

Nominees must be Pleasanton residents or non-profit groups conducting their volunteer work within Pleasanton.

The awards will be presented at a Community of Character Award luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 18 at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in downtown Pleasanton. Reservations may be made online at www.pleasanton.org or through the Community of Character website at www.communityofcharacter.org/
