The Firehouse Theater Movie Nights kick off at 7:30 p.m. tonight with “The Babadook.”

This psychological Australian-Canadian thriller, released in 2014, is the story of a troubled widow who eventually finds that her 6-year-old son might be telling the truth about a monster that entered their home through the pages of a children’s book.

This year’s film series is dubbed “Thrill Rides” and will include some of the best independent film thrillers from the last few years, all rated R. Popcorn and snacks are available at the theater; no outside food or beverages are permitted.
