The Pleasanton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing starting at 7 p.m. tonight to consider a bid to build 50 upscale homes on the 194-acre Lund Ranch in the hills southwest of Sunol Boulevard near the I-680 exit.
To reach the proposed development, the builder, Greenbriar Homes, needs to construct a road using Sunset and Sycamore Creek roadways to reach Sunol Boulevard, or by extending Lund Ranch Road from Independence Boulevard, with homeowners using Junipero Street to reach Sunol Boulevard.
Greenbriar’s preferred route using Sunset Way would require building 50 yards of a roadway to the development that would cross a steep slope. That plan would fall under the terms of voter-approved Measure PP, which does not allow construction on slopes with 25% grades or more.
The commission meeting will be held in the City Council chamber in the Pleasanton Civic Center, 200 Old Bernal Ave.
Stop the building. There is no water! There is too much building taking place, there is no room in the schools, on the roads, in city services. This is too much. The community cannot handle more construction.
It amazes me how our city leaders can even consider more building at this time. We are all being asked to reduce our water consumption so that the current residents can still take showers and get drinking water, yet the city seems to think that by adding 50 more oversized homes with large landscaping is a good thing. Am I missing something or are our city leaders missing something? A building moratorium is in order till this drought is over and maybe beyond.
It just keeps coming, and it won’t slow down again until we vote them out.

Time for a decision to be made. This has been going on, on and on. Funny to think that Callipee Golf Course got built in South Pleasanton hillsides at all with the grading, vehicle and truck traffic, water needs, wildlife disruption, big nets across the rolling hills, etc. I read more about fifty houses than I ever did about a commercial business like a public golf course going there. Ummm
