The Transbay Tube reopened on schedule early this morning allowing BART service to resume between Oakland and San Francisco well ahead of today’s traditionally heavy Monday commuter traffic.

As of 6 a.m., all trains from the two Dublin-Pleasanton stations were operating on schedule.

The Transbay Tube was closed starting Friday night for critical track maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. The West Oakland BART was also completely closed.

BART officials estimated that approximately 80,000 riders who rely on BART to travel across the bay during the Saturday and Sunday shutdown were affected.

BART will close the Transbay Tube again for more track work over the Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-7.
