Editor’s note: The original article said speaker auditions will be held April 23 and May 28. It has been changed to May 27, from 3-9 p.m.

The TEDxAmadorValleyHigh committee is now looking for individuals to speak or perform at its TEDx event on Sept. 17.

TEDx — the ‘x’ meaning an independently organized TED event — is a local, self-organized event that brings people together to share technology, entertainment and design (TED)-like experiences.

TEDxAmadorValleyHigh’s event theme will be “Embracing Obstacles.”

“We believe that holding an event that allows students to see real, proven examples of success through enduring hardship will motivate students to overcome their individual challenges,” said Vinith Ilavarasan, a TEDx committee member and Amador Valley junior.

The TEDxAmadorValleyHigh committee is looking for speakers of all ages.

Speakers will be selected based on the merit of their experiences, presentation abilities and passion to educate the audience about prevalent modern issues.

“We believe that high school students are an ideal audience for a TEDx event because high school is a critical period in students’ lives,” Ilavarasan said.

Speakers are scheduled to audition May 27, from 3-9 p.m.

Interested applicants can apply online or by emailing tedxamadorvalleyhigh@gmail.com.

Applications are due May 15.
