The Montessori School of Pleasanton has opened in a new facility at 3420 Cornerstone Ct.

The school is part of the Association Montessori International (AMI), an accredited Montessori education organization now with eight locations in the Bay Area between San Jose and Berkeley serving ages 3 months through high school.

The Pleasanton school will have several open houses and start its summer program in July. The fall program begins Sept. 3.

The Montessori School of Fremont, the first AMI-accredited school, opened in 1974.

Eric Alexander, executive director of the Pleasanton school, said that all Montessori lessons are taught one-on-one and include hands-on materials.

“It has been shown that teaching with concrete, rather than abstract objects such as worksheets, enhances not only the lessons, but brain development as well,” he said.

In addition, a Montessori preschool class is a 3 year, mixed-age program which means that each child has the opportunity to learn at their own pace, the teachers know the children very well, and a tight-knit learning community is formed. This also fosters peer to peer teaching which reinforces the lessons and facilitates leadership skills.

The Montessori School of Pleasanton will be an AMI accredited school, an association widely recognized as the most stringent authority on Montessori standards. Not all Montessori schools are created equal, or have AMI accreditation.

There is no oversight over the Montessori name, meaning any school can say they are Montessori and do whatever they want inside the classrooms. This is an important distinction that differentiates the Montessori School of Pleasanton, Alexander said.

  1. Hi Bill,

Thank you for the opportunity to clear the air on the very unfortunate history associated with this location. Yes, we are in the same facility, but we are an entirely different school. We have no ties to the church, or the previous preschool operator; we were founded in Fremont 40 years ago and have been growing slowly but surely ever since. We just want to bring high quality Montessori education to Pleasanton and believe this beautiful campus can help us fulfill that dream.

  2. 1. How do you screen your employees to insure that they DO NOT have criminal records?

    2. How do you recruit employees?

    3. How are your employees trained?

    4. How come you publish photographs of children on your web page? Tens of thousands of photos of children end up online. Some of the photographs are taken off web pages like yours. Children have a right to privacy and adults have a responsibility to protect their privacy. Please explain how come you post images of children on line. Did they give your written permission? For how long?

    5. Is there any evidence that any of the images of children on your website have been used by pornographers for use on their web pages?

    6. Have you ever been investigated by the police/FBI?

  3. As a child advocate, I track down images of clergy adult sexual predators. Those images are all posted online and used by various organizations to hold the perpetrators accountable for their crimes against children and vulnerable adults.

I take the matter of child sexual abuse/rape very seriously. I do not care if the perps are priests, nuns, rabbi’s, or ministers of any faith. I do it every day, 3 hrs. daily. I have been an child advocate for 10 years.

I will be contacting various agencies about the new Montessori School in Pleasanton, CA. Children have a right to thrive and to be in a safe environments. I hope that the Montessori School in Pleasanton is a safe place for all children and their families.

  4. Wow, cholo, you’ve been busy, once you shed your trench coat you usually wear near school zones. Exactly why would you expect this business to address your ranting inquiries? Where did you send your children for indoctrination? What, you have no children? Why am I not surprised, but just glad you haven’t reproduced.
