Police are searching for four suspects believed to be involved in an armed robbery at the Home Consignment Center in Danville yesterday where an undisclosed amount of jewelry was taken and employees and customers were sprayed with pepper spray.

The armed robbery took place around 10:30 a.m. in the store, which is located at 1901 Camino Ramon in Danville. Three men were believed to have entered the store with sledgehammers and smashed the glass cases containing the jewelry.

Witnesses report that the three men exited the store and got into a white sedan, possibly a Cadillac, with a driver and headed southbound on Camino Ramon towards San Ramon.

San Ramon Valley Fire Department was on scene to treat the four to six victims for exposure to pepper spray exposure and two people were transported to local hospitals for minor injuries.

Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said they are going on several leads to track down the suspects. If caught, they could face a felony charge related to the use of pepper spray.

Three men wearing jeans, black hooded sweatshirts over white T-shirts, gloves, and masks covering the lower part of their faces, Simpkins said.

Because of the masks and hoods, there were conflicting reports as to the ages and races of the men, Simpkins said. Police hope to glean more information about the suspects’ identities from the store’s security cameras.

“There is surveillance footage that we will be blowing up and analyzing,” Simpkins said. “We’ll figure it out.”

Anyone with information related to the case can call Det. Anthony Maldonado of the Danville Police Department at 314-3711.
