The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday that Delonzo Logwood, who was charged with three murders in 2015, was sentenced to 12 years in state prison following a plea deal accepted by Superior Court Judge Mark McCannon.

Notably, the judge had earlier rejected a 15-year plea bargain from District Attorney Pamela Price in March of this year.

Logwood’s case has been in motion since 2015. Evidence for two of the three murders came from a cooperating witness involved in the murders, who gave testimony in exchange for more than 11 years off of a 31-year sentence. Parts of his testimony were later contradicted and he ultimately refused to testify. Both of the murder charges arising from this testimony were dropped.

What remains is a charge for the killing of Eric Ford. Logwood will serve 12 years in state prison for voluntary manslaughter.

The case drew attention after McCannon rejected the earlier plea bargain. However, he has now approved the lesser charge and lesser sentence.

“This plea bargain is supported by the facts, the evidence and the law and it is consistent with our responsibility to see that justice is done,” Price said.
