The Pleasanton Public Library has launched a contest for residents to design the city’s new library card with their own original artwork.

“Pleasanton residents of all ages — from children and teens to adults and seniors — are encouraged to submit artwork focusing on the library’s mission statement: ‘Start Your Journey Here: Discover, Connect, Share,'” library officials said.

The city’s Library Commission will select the winner, who will have their artwork printed on all new library cards in Pleasanton.

All submissions must be from a resident of Pleasanton (any age); contain “Pleasanton Public Library” in the design; focus on the library’s mission statement: “Start Your Journey Here: Discover, Connect, Share”; contain bold, bright colors; fit within the dimensions of 6-3/8 inches by 10-1/8 inches (final dimensions 2-1/8 inches by 3-3/8 inches); and be the entrant’s original, previously unpublished and free of copyright restrictions or infringement, according to city officials.

“Upon submission, entrants assign the city of Pleasanton all rights to the artwork and consent that all artwork may be displayed and/or reproduced without limitation and without compensation by the city of Pleasanton,” they added.

Entries are due by 5 p.m. May 15 by email to ytao@cityofpleasantonca.gov.
