Agitators vandalize county courthouse, police department in Oakland

Sheriff's office estimates court damage at $200K

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf chastised people who attended a protest over the weekend for vandalizing a police station and attempting to set the René C. Davidson Courthouse on fire.

The Oakland Police Department and Oakland Fire Department both confirmed Saturday night that agitators at the protest had started a fire at the courthouse that was quickly extinguished. The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said Monday on Twitter that the estimated damage to the courthouse is roughly $200,000.

Oakland police also alleged that some protest attendees hurled fireworks and rocks at officers and pointed lasers at officers and police helicopters.

"We celebrate passionate protest but Oaklanders need to know that when they attend protests after dark they may be providing cover for agitators who are more intent on stoking civil unrest than advancing racial justice," Schaaf said in a statement Sunday.

The protest began as a show of support for protesters in Portland, Oregon, who continue to demonstrate against police brutality following the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

The Portland protesters have clashed multiple times over the last two weeks with federal agents and law enforcement officers in unmarked uniforms.

President Donald Trump and Chad Wolf, acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, have used the Portland protests to justify sending federal agents into other large metropolitan cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City.

Schaaf argued agitators in Oakland make it easier for the Trump administration to vilify otherwise peaceful protesters.

"Vandalizing our downtown gives Donald Trump the images he wants and the justification he seeks to send federal troops into American cities," she said. "We can't be fooled and play into his twisted campaign strategy."

Amazing the articles that the Pleasanton Weekly finds to place on their board. I guess I am not surprised that this little dumbed down gem above would make the cut. Journalism really is dead, especially during an election year.

I knew that articles and the political tone would ramp up as we near the election in order to keep a negative focus on Trump. I’m sure calls from the DNC have doubled in frequency out to ALL news agencies. This article highlights what is to come. The ‘Jerry Nadler glasses are on,’ and all these buildings burning, people getting killed, vandalism (which doesn’t even come close to labeling what it is), violence against the police, and more really isn’t happening? It’s all peaceful protest people, and Trump is the boogie man.

Censorship and curbing free speech are the weapons used to hide the truth from the light. Everything must be coached to place full blame on Trump for everything. Recent polls indicate that 75% of conservatives believe they can’t speak out without reprisals- losing their job, being vilified, being ‘cancelled,’ and more. Even Pleasanton Weekly now seems its necessary to ‘tighten’ the commenting abilities, ‘because responses have become disrespectful and harmful to those that want to speak out.’ I find this misleading, because it has been my experience that liberals on these boards have no problem with vilifying you once they see you are a conservative and supportive of Trump. They love to project.

Mainstream Media, as Pleasanton Weekly is and the article above from which it came, dominate the voice in this country protected by its journalistic heavyweights as Google (YouTube), Facebook, and Twitter. They are comfortable knowing that any debate, alternative opinion, or outlying observation is kept from the general population. The mindset of CNN and MSNBC (coupled with its enormous lineup of other news organizations) has thrown a blanket over the truth. Control what is said and you own the outcome.

The major cities in this country, run by Democrats for decades and some for over a hundred years, are burning. Their policies lead them on that path. Antifa and BLM are the new ‘Brown Shirts’ of the Democratic Party. They are hell-bent on doing everything possible to disrupt the election- this they have already stated. Remember when Swalwell and Schiff claimed, and still do, that the Russians are responsible?

The riots are organized and paid for and will not end right up to voting day. The media is complicit on insuring that aim. Free speech is dying in this country and it appears that liberals are the only ones that get to define and enforce it. The fear they have is the truth getting out.
