Crews contain 300-acre brush fire along freeway near Altamont Pass

A brush fire that burned 300 acres overnight along Interstate 580 near the Altamont Pass was fully contained, Alameda County fire officials said about 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The blaze was sparked by a non-injury car crash just before midnight Friday on I-580 at North Flynn Road, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.

The fire temporarily closed down lanes in both directions on the freeway, the California Highway Patrol said. The freeway reopened about 4:30 a.m. Friday.
