PUSD meetings can help ease the transition to kindergarten

Several meetings during January offer information about PUSD enrollment, programs, and more

Families of incoming transitional (TK) and kindergarten (K) students in the Pleasanton Unified School District for the 2020-21 school year can attend several informational meetings this month to prepare for a successful transition to the classroom.

An overview of PUSD, their dual immersion program, the Pleasanton Partnerships in Education Foundation (PPIE), after school childcare, and information about enrollment requirements and procedures will be given at the meeting, among other topics.

The first meeting will be held this Wednesday (Jan. 15) from 6 to 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room at Valley View Elementary School, 480 Adams Way. Spanish translation will be available at the meeting.

A second meeting will take place this Thursday in the Lydiksen Elementary multipurpose room, 7700 Highland Oaks Dr., and another Jan. 22 in the Fairlands Elementary multipurpose room, 4151 W. Las Positas Blvd. Both of those meetings also take place from 6 to 7 p.m.

The last two general sessions are scheduled for Jan. 28 from 9 to 10 a.m., and 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. in the District Office Bernal Room, 4665 Bernal Ave. Mandarin translation is offered at the first session and Korean interpreting services are available during the second.

An information night is also planned on Jan. 28 for the Valley View Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program in the Valley View multipurpose room from 6 to 7 p.m.

Parents and guardians interested in attending may RSVP at: bit.ly/parentmeeting20-21. The meetings are intended for parents/guardians only.

PUSD will also host neighborhood registration events at elementary school sites starting in February. To learn more about parent information nights and neighborhood registration, visit the district website at pleasantonusd.net.
