Pleasanton school board not convening tonight

Meeting normally held on second Tuesday set for next week

The Pleasanton school board, which regularly meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, will not be convening tonight. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. next Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the district office boardroom at 4665 Bernal Ave.

The second meeting of the month is scheduled for the fifth Tuesday, Jan. 31. The board adopted its 2016-17 meeting calendar in May.

The board is set to return to its regular meeting schedule in February with meetings set for the 14th and 28th.

So we should bring the torches and pitchforks next week instead?

I suspect the Board thinks that PUSD is just fine and dandy and want the chaos and shenanigans to continue. Perhaps the School Board just wants a superintendent who goes along with the union antics of MIA (Missing in Action) teachers. Having done a quick poll of my fellow sufferers (parents whose children are enrolled in PUSD), the following becomes clear:

1. Many union-protected teachers game the system by barely showing up at all for work between early November and three days ago. In other words, for the last few weeks, many teachers have suddenly fallen "ill" and haven't come to work.

2. This has happened for the last several years with the classrooms filled with substitutes and the kids learn absolutely nothing.

3. Principals and D.O. administrators and instructional coaches apparently exist more in the Twitterverse, going to conferences in places like Palm Springs, rather than showing up in classrooms and at work.

4. There is a trio of District Office managed (if there can be such a term) "teachers on assignment" who coin themselves the "Hyperdocs Girls" who claim to have invented embedded hypertext links in documents. Though this feature has been available for somewhere around two decades in Powerpoint and other Microsoft documents, apparently the "Hyperdoc Girls," similar to Al Gore inventing the internet, claim they invented the entire concept, and thus teachers much re-write pre-existing teaching materials in some sort of Hyperdocs format.

No wonder the Board isn't meeting. The parents and larger community are pretty much fed up.
