Local effort underway to support Wreaths Across America program

Ggoal is to place live fir wreath at headstone of all 560 veterans buried at Pioneer Cemetery.

Local volunteers are working to ensure that all veterans laid to rest at the Pleasanton Pioneer Cemetery will be honored Saturday on National Wreaths Across America Day.

This year, the ceremony will be held at noon simultaneously across the country at more than 1,000 locations.

The goal here is to place a live, fir wreath at the headstone of all 560 veterans buried at Pioneer.

The effort is led by Pleasanton's Cameron Huber with the sponsorship by the VFW Post 6298, the American Legion Post 237, the Pleasanton Lion’s Club and the local chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army.
