Dublin seeks nominations for outstanding citizens, organizations awards

Deadline for submitting nominations is 5 p.m. Jan. 13.

The city of Dublin is accepting nominations for its the 2016 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Organization of the Year awards.

The purpose of these awards is to recognize outstanding individuals and groups who have contributed to the quality of life in Dublin this year.

The Young Citizen of the Year recognizes the volunteer service of a Dublin youth in the 1st – 12th grade.

Nominations for the awards are based on the Dublin Integrity in Action’s 10 characteristics: Responsibility, Respectfulness, Caring, Giving, Positive Attitude, Trustworthiness, Cooperation, Doing One’s Best, Honesty and Self-Discipline.

Other criteria includes originality and uniqueness of an activity or project; overall relevance and importance to the Dublin community; time and effort spent and challenges in accomplishing the activity or project.

All nominees will be recognized at the Volunteer Recognition Event to be held at the Shannon Community Center on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

The Organization of the Year will receive a $500 cash prize, and a $300 donation will be given to each of the Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year’s favorite non-profit organization.

Nominations can be completed online at Dublin's website, www.dublin.ca.gov/vre, or by calling the City Clerk’s Office at (925) 833-6650.

The nomination deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.
