Pleasanton seeks literacy tutors

The Pleasanton Library's literacy program is recruiting prospective volunteers interested in helping fellow residents learn English or improve on their English language skills.

Library officials are hosting a Project Read tutor training session Saturday from 1-5 p.m. in the library's large conference room at 400 Old Bernal Ave.

Volunteers will be taught to develop teaching skills, craft curriculum and gain experience, with the instructional books and materials provided. A tutor must be at least 18 years old, fluent in American English and able to consistently devote one or two hours per week for tutoring lessons for a minimum of one semester.

For more information or to register for the training session, email achilds@cityofpleasantonca.gov.
