Flames spread fast, damaging two power poles with high voltage lines

Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm grass fire near I-580 in Livermore Thursday.

The fire was reported along the highway near Isabel Avenue just

before 3 p.m.,

The flames were spreading fast, damaging two power poles with high voltage lines and threatening a construction site.

The damage to the power lines caused a power outage that affected

nearby residents and businesses, including Los Positas College, Costco and the University of Phoenix, Isabel Avenue was temporarily closed.

Firefighters from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department contained the fire at about 3 acres. Crews stayed in the area until about 10:40 p.m. making sure it was completely out.

No injuries were reported.
