Downtown Rotary installs new president for 2016/17

Realtor Randy Brown succeeds CPA Janet Yarbrough in Castlewood ceremony

Randall Brown of PMZ Real Estate was installed last week as president of the Rotary Club of Pleasanton in a colorful celebration at Castlewood Country Club.

A member of the boards of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and the Stanford/Valley Care Charitable Foundation, Brown has been in real estate for 11 years. His wife Lisa joined him for the installation which puts him in charge of the club through next June 30.

Brown succeeds Janet Bowman Yarbrough, who stepped down during the ceremonial event, called the "demotion dinner."

Yarbrough, a CPA, owns a tax and accounting business on Main Street, which she started in 1989. She is the treasurer of the Pleasanton Downtown Association and a member of the city's Economic Vitality Committee . Her husband of 38 years Lloyd joined her at the dinner.

The Rotary Club of Pleasanton, often called the "downtown" Rotary Club, was chartered in 1965. It''s an organization of women and men who represent a diverse mix of professions and participate in a variety of local and international projects, including raising funds for scholarships for high school students, service projects for senior citizens and providing wheelchairs for those in need.
