Fresh Works returns to Firehouse today

Opening reception with artists starts at 1 p.m.

Fresh Works No. 6, a much anticipated annual juried exhibition of Greater Bay Area artists of all kinds, opens Saturday with a free opening reception with the artists from 1-3 p.m.

This year's installation features 48 artists using a wide variety of media, including oil, watercolor, photography, drawing, sculpture and mixed media. The adjudicator was artist, teacher and mentor Richard Ambrose, executive director of the Richmond Art Center.

A special event for children ages 5 to 11 will take place from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Thursday, May 12. They will visit the exhibit, discuss the use of line in the pieces, then go upstairs to the art studio to create their own projects focusing on lines.

Register for the YOUNG@ART event by visiting www.pleasantonfun.com; the code is 61642.
