Wheels to hold public hearing at 6 p.m. today on service changes

'Wheels Forward' project, soliciting comments on changes

The Wheels board of directors will hold a public hearing today to gather public comments on a service proposal that would bring major changes to the Tri-Valley's public transit system.

The service plan, which is a part of the "Wheels Forward" project, would significantly improve service to BART and Las Positas College, reduce duplication of service and streamline the routes so that they are easier to understand and use.

The public is invited to review the proposed changes and give input at the scheduled public hearing, which will start at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First Street in downtown Livermore.

For those using Wheels buses to reach the Bankhead event, Wheels will extend the operating hours of several of its routes past to make sure those riders have the same late-hour service to return home.

Comments on the plan to be presented were collected during an open comment period between March 7 and April 22 and additional comments can be made at Monday's meeting. All comments will be taken into consideration before the board approves the final service plan.
