Amador Valley parents invited to forum tonight on principal search

A public forum will be held for Pleasanton Unified parents tonight to share what qualities they'd like considered when the district chooses Amador Valley High's next principal.

The school aims get a new principal this summer in time for the 2016-17 school year after current principal Tom Drescher said he'd be leaving his job in June. He declined to state why he was resigning.

"I have a unique opportunity next year and I'm excited to begin a new chapter in my life," he said after his announcement in January. "I shared the decision now to ensure that PUSD has adequate time to find a replacement. Please know it was a difficult decision to leave because I truly love Amador."

The meeting, advertised specifically to parents and guardians, will be from 6-7 p.m. today at Amador Valley's multipurpose room, 1155 Santa Rita Road.

Amador Valley students will get an opportunity to share their input at lunchtime today, the district stated.

Community members unable to attend are encouraged to send input to pusdinfo@pleasantonusd.net.
