Man killed in Highway 84 crash near Pleasanton

A 22-year-old man died after a head-on crash on Highway 84 near Pleasanton Friday night.

Around 9:05 p.m., a silver Nissan 370z was traveling on westbound Highway 84 west of Ruby Hill Drive, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials. At the same time, a gray Ford F250 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Highway 84.

The Nissan lost control and crossed over two sets of double yellow lines and collided with the Ford, the CHP said.

The driver of the Ford was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, according to CHP officials.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP has not released the name of the driver, who was a 22-year-old Lathrop resident.

CHP officers closed the highway for about an hour as they investigated the collision.
