Pleasanton RADD athletes win basketball medals

 

Local basketball players on Pleasanton RADD (Recreational Activities for the Developmentally Disabled) teams earned medals during the Special Olympics Northern California basketball competition hosted at three Pleasanton schools last weekend.

Pleasanton resident Adam Pinney led the way with a gold medal in the individual skills competition, which consisted of dribbling, target-passing and shooting drills. Lisa Burley and Jacob Wald took home silver medals in the skills competition, and Antriksh Singh earned a bronze medal.

The RADD A team earned a gold medal after winning its first game 20-13 and its second game 34-16.

The RADD B team finished with a silver medal, winning its first game by two points and then dropping the second game by a couple baskets.

"It was a very fun weekend for the athletes and coaches, as well as the many family members and friends who came to support these amazing and hard-working teams," coach Kay King said.

The regional event was held at Amador Valley High and Harvest Park and Pleasanton middle schools.
