Foothill cheerleaders win division crown

Dons squad takes second place; both schools ready for USA Nationals

The Foothill varsity and junior varsity cheer teams won division championships at the California Open at UC Davis on Feb. 7.

The Amador Valley competition cheer team took second place in the small intermediate cheer division also at the California Open on Super Bowl Sunday.

Both schools are next set to compete at the USA Nationals at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California from March 18-20.

For Foothill, the strong showing on Feb. 7 followed success at regionals for the varsity team, which took first place at regionals at Yorba Linda High School on Jan. 16 and second place at Brea Olinda High School on Jan. 17.

The JV Falcons earned second-place finishes in their division at both mid-January competitions.
