As Pleasanton merchants and restaurant owners say, it pays to come downtown frequently.
Mark Fraze and his wife Nancy walk Main Street and adjoining side streets five to six evenings every week, both to walk their dog Annie and to seize photo opportunities for their enjoyment.
They were on Main Street last Sunday at 4:45 p.m. after a quick and sudden hail storm came when Mark said they spotted "an amazing full rainbow."
"It was such a vibrant one, with a very dim double rainbow above it as well, that people were getting out of cars and stepping out of shops and restaurants to see it," he said.
Mark, a senior Paralegal with IBM Corporation whose hobby is amateur photography, pointed his camera to the north for a spectacular shot at the rainbow, which is posted here along with several others photos he took.
Although Mark owns top quality, highly sophisticated camera, this was a spur of the moment occasion.
"I only had my LG 3 smart phone with me to use as a camera," he said. "In order to capture the full arch of the rainbow, I took three side-by-side shots and stitched them together in PhotoShop."
The Frazes have lived in the Del Prado neighborhood since 2011, moving here from Danville.
"We always loved Pleasanton and found ourselves spending our free time here, so we decided to move here when we downsized," Mark said.
Always looking for photo opportunities, he said that's easy here because "Pleasanton is such a picturesque community."
